Miss Israel has traditionally sent gorgeous women to both Miss World and Miss Universe. As a matter of fact, Israel can already boast winners for both international pageants — Rina Messinger (Miss Israel 1976), Miss Universe 1976 and Linor Abargil (Miss Israel 1998).
The Miss Israel Organization has been responsible of choosing the delegate to Miss World and Miss Universe since 1952. However, it was in 2006 that the Miss Israel Organization decided to send the pageant’s winner to Miss World, whereas the first runner-up to Miss Universe. This is in contrast to what many countries are doing, where the main winner goes to Miss Universe and the runner-up to Miss World.
