Jonuel: Does a big ego help or hurt writers?
Scotty: It is good to be confident but not overconfident. I have been told I have a big ego, but in reality, I am just proud and confident in my work.
Jonuel: How did publishing your first book change your process of writing?
Scotty: I learned how to make my work into something that will capture the audience’s attention.
Jonuel: If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?
Scotty: You have one second to capture a reader’s attention. The back cover of the book will either give or cost you a sale.
Jonuel: What’s the best way to market your books?
Scotty: Social media hands down. I sold about 95 percent of my books through the promotion and marketing of social media.
Jonuel: Do you believe in writer’s block?
Scotty: Yes I do. I always have to be in the mood to write or my best work won’t be given to the book I am working on.
