Jonuel: Does a big ego help or hurt writers?

Kayla: I think a big ego hurts authors because this is a business that offers you a lot of criticism. Having a big ego makes it harder to cope with some of the things that may be said. I think the best attitude an author can have is to be humble because it allows them to better cope with any and all feedback.

Jonuel: What did you edit out of this book?

Kayla: I've edited so much out of this book it's hard to keep track! I've changed POVs, cut out characters completely, and changed some of the character's personalities. Really, I think all the changes though are for the best.

Jonuel: Do you believe in writer’s block?

Kayla: Yes, writer's block can be hard to manage to. I get it from time to time, sometimes for weeks or months at a time. I think the best way to handle it is to just relax and listen to music. If I have writer's block, the best way to get over it is to not push myself to do so but rather let the ideas come to me.

Jonuel: What other authors are you friends with and how do they help you become a better writer?

Kayla: I'm friends with a variety of different authors and I think this helps me be a better author because they are able to provide me with ideas and perspectives that I may not have considered myself.

Jonuel: What was the best money you ever spent as a writer?

Kayla: Hiring a professional editor and book cover designer were the best things I ever bought as a writer. Not only do I feel more confident about the books I put out there, but because they are of a higher quality, they sell better as well.
