Today’s beer: Zwönitzer Rauchbier

I can only recall having a Rauchbier on one other occasion and it was horrid.

It was from Shiner and the Smoked flavoring was an additive like liquid smoke instead of coming from actual smoked malt.

It was worse than cough syrup as a kid.

This beer has an amazing smoky nose and a pleasant, albeit odd, smoky palette.

Overall it’s helped by having a good dark beer base and while I can appreciate it, I’m not sure I enjoy it.
