Barcelona the Cathedral

There is no better starting place for your trip to Spain than the outstanding and enchanting streets of Barcelona. There isn’t a single monotonous moment in this city that literally never sleeps (thinking of New York right now?}, especially in the summer months. Barcelona is embossed with the instantly recognizable modernism of Antoni Gaudi, who single-handedly set down the city on the architectural map.
A stroll down the grand avenue Passeig de Gracia will take you directly in front of both Casa Batllo’ (Address: Passeig de Gràcia, 43, 08007 Barcelona} and Casa Mila’ (Address: Provença, 261-265, 08008 Barcelona), which are astonishing achievements of art and design and entirely accessible to the public.

You can then make a reservation and have nice cocktails while watching the sunset on the “Alice In Wonderland”-like rooftop of Casa Mila’ (available only during summer season). Walk your way through the narrow passages of the Gothic Quarter, the oldest part of town, until you reach the remarkable and unmistakable Gothic Cathedral (Address: Pla de la Seu, s/n, 08002 Barcelona}.

Dali Museum Spain
About an hour and a half north of Barcelona you’ll find the town of Figueres with the Northern Spain's most interesting and unique museum. The Dali museum (Address: Plaça Gala i Salvador Dalí, 5, 17600 Figueres, Girona, Spain} is so exceptional because it was designed and constructed by the artist himself and the collection of his works is unparalleled anywhere else in the world.

The shoreline north of Barcelona, prolonging to the French border, is known as the Costa Brava and is one of the Mediterranean's most élite and beautiful vacation destinations. Additionally, Catalonia's rural area is spotted with excellent Spanish wine vineyards and olive orchards. Once you fall in love with Barcelona, it will be “easier said than done” leaving this region; however, we need to move forward with our virtual tour because there are few other gems in the north to explore in order to have actually journeyed Spain.

San Sebastian (Donostia)
A combination of multicultural chic and sophisticated resort town, San Sebastian has all the indulgences of a big city while offering the Atlantic coastline with its most trendy beach escape.
San Sebastian, the heart and soul of the Basque region, is broadly known for its first-class restaurants and tempting tapas bars; its location close to the south of the French borderline has added an exclusive sparkle to the culture and cuisine in this area of Spain.
Just a short bus ride inland takes you to Bilbao, home of Frank O. Gehry's spectacular architectural triumph, the Guggenheim Museum. This is one stop that should be made when traveling Spain!

Pamplona
The enchanting words of Hemingway and the challenging art of bull running are indisputable symbols of this historic small town. Another cultural pin of the Basque region, Pamplona would be a fantastic stop/tour especially if you travel Spain in July when La Fiesta de San Fermin (The Running of the Bulls) takes place over 14 days. The population of 200,000 explodes to over 1 million, so book a place to stay far in advance or just do what locals do: eat, drink and dance in the streets until the sunrise and the bulls begin to run!

To travel and tour Spain's diverse cultures and distinct regions people would need months. With more limited time, these fascinating destinations provide a thorough and profound intimate view of the genuine and real Spanish way of life.

Soon we’ll take a virtual tour of the Islands around Spain…

Till the next one... have a fun and safe trip!
