Can Online Travel Booking Save You Time And Money?

Before people take out the big suitcase, before they set a hold on the mail and before they make house and pet-sitting prearrangement, an increasing number of American vacationers are taking a different sort of trip: the one online!

Since travel planning has evolved, booking Web sites are taking the place of travel agencies over and over again in the configuration and organization of family vacations, weekend getaways, business trips and more. In addition, in 2013, four out of five American people who made plans for trips on the Web also bought their travel document online, up from 70% in 2012.

When booking a trip, many purchasers use sites such as Expedia, Travelocity, Tripadvisor or Orbitz. These websites are known as online travel agencies, or OTAs, and they work by promptly searching all the options available through many travel suppliers, such as airlines, hotel chains, etc., based on the request you’ve entered in the search form.

In the meantime, a new survey conducted by MSN and Harris Interactive says that 75% of U.S. adults who have ever taken a vacation search at least three or more Web sites when exploring options and booking their trip.
The question then is why do consumers search several sites when planning and booking a trip?

Many people do so wishing to find the best deal. However is it worth it to shop around?
The answer is yes because no one OTA seeks out all of the travel suppliers in the United States, and each OTA has different bargains giving them access to deals the other don't have. Nevertheless the jumping from one site to the other one, the downloading of the page or the website, the queries entered in the search engine is all time consuming.

Most of the times, consumers miss an opportunity on finding the best deals for their trip because they don't shop around as much as necessary or they don't know exactly where to look.
One Web site, Skyscanner.com, has all of the travel sites-from Expedia to Priceline to Southwest to Hertz all of them under one roof. While the site doesn't sell travel, it makes it effortless, uncomplicated and immediate for consumers to book a travel.

A site such as Skyscanner.com lets users enter their itinerary once and then click to search any OTA or travel supplier without needing to type in the Web address and itinerary over and over again. It's a huge time savings, and because it's thorough, consumers won't overlook on a site just because they didn't know about it or didn't recall it.

And as with other OTAs, consumers can use Skyscanner.com as a one-stop shopping portal for hotels, flights deals and car rentals. After all the above considerations…
