Day 5 and today we spent the entire day at the Magic Kingdom. Our day started early with breakfast at Be Our Guest. Be Our Guest operates as a quick service location for breakfast and lunch, but as a table service venue for dinner. In our experience, breakfast is the best meal.
I’m not a great fan of Walt Disney World breakfasts but Be Our Guest is an exception. The venue is of extraordinary value on the Disney Dining Plan, and the food is high quality. Your food will be ordered at either a counter or on the My Disney Experience App, but it will be brought to your table.
Entrees cost $28, and if you are using the Disney Dining Plan, you can add a Mimosa or Bellini which costs an extra $10. Also, unlimited coffee/soft drinks plus a selection of pastries are served with your meal. While if you are paying out of pocket this represents a costly meal, but on the Disney Dining Plan, it means you can get $38 meal for the cost of approximately $18 quick service voucher. The meal is more expensive than the majority of table service restaurants.
Be Our Guest also provides an extensive allergy menu and guests with gluten, dairy, egg, and soy sensitivities are served pastries from Erin McKenna‘s Bakery in Disney Springs. These pastries are also suitable for vegans. Although they seem to contain absolutely no ingredients you would find in a traditional cake I understand Erin McKenna’s products taste pretty good.
I had for my breakfast the Croque Madame, which I highly recommend.
Apart from a short mid-afternoon break, our day was spent touring the Magic Kingdom. Our early park breakfast meant we faced a relatively empty park as we started our touring. We took advantage of riding an empty Little Mermaid before our 3 FastPass selections. Our FastPass selections were for Haunted Mansions, Splash Mountain & Big Thunder Mountain.
Although crowds were heavy, we quickly obtained extra FastPasses for Pirates of the Caribbean and Flying Carpets before returning to Wilderness Lodge.
In the evening we rode Jungle Cruise and several additional attractions in Fantasyland & Tomorrowland. Again in the last hour many attractions, which earlier had long waits, were walk-ons including Buzz Lightyear and Astro Orbiter.
Dinner was at the Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen in Adventureland. The restaurant serves food from Asia, South America, and Africa with an American twist. The theming is based on the Jungle Cruise, and the waiters/skippers have similar jokes to those you will find on the ride.
Jungle Skipper Canteen is also a fantastic venue for guests with food allergies. The majority of dishes can be adjusted for guests on request.
The restaurant is one of the best in the Magic Kingdom, and the slightly unusual menu is certainly worth trying.
Tomorrow we are having a slightly easier day with plans to visit Blizzard Beach and to do some outlet shopping. Dinner will be at the new Storybook Dining at Artist Point. The restaurant is now a character meal featuring Snow White, Dopey, Grumpy and the Wicked Queen. We visited Artist Point last year for Auntie Catherine’s birthday and it will be interesting to see how it has changed.
