Best Places to Visit in Goa On A Solo Long Weekend Trip

This is the beginning of a new category on this blog. As I am planning to write some more curated content where I can share with you guys the best places to Visit and the things you can do. At the places which I visit or somewhere you would love to visit at a particular time of year. I thought to start with Goa as the first place which I just finished up writing about. And also the videos I posted on my youtube channel. So let’s get started.

3 Days Long Weekend

I was there for a long weekend so had 3 days to explore the most of Goa. But the list which I am sharing below is a bit different from the one which I followed. So you can save some more time to enjoy your 3 days trip to Goa. So let’s get started –

Day 1 – Old Goa

Below is a list of places which I visited in Old Goa, you can either plan to visit these the 1st day or on your last. As this would be a one day trip to the other side of Goa. And not much time will be left after returning from here, but you can definitely add a Beach for the evening. Which I too went to including a fort but would suggest you guys stick to the below places. And as I was on a solo trip, I maintained my time and managed to visit so many places. Which would not be the same case when you are travelling with a group of friends or family.

Basilica of Bom Jesus – Beautiful Vintage Church which holds the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier.

Archaeological Museum Goa – Spend some time with the history of Goa. Ancient artefacts collected excavated in Goa with portraits from colonial times.

Wax Museum Goa – My first time at a wax museum, they have decent wax models of the famous figures all over the world.

St. Augustine Tower – Ruins and a tower of a church built in 1602.

The Most amazing thing was that all the four places I visited that day were within a radius of 2kms. You can park your vehicle somewhere and walk around all these places in 3-4 hours max. But if you have time definitely go to one of the beaches in my case I went to the Sinquerim Beach to end the day which has some epic viewpoints of the sea.

Day 2 – The Famous Beaches and a Fort

Keep the 2nd day for visiting the best and famous beaches of Goa.

Baga Beach – With the best pubs, clubs and hotels nearby this is the most crowded beach of them all, Even getting a parking spot near this beach is worst and reaching there it feels as if you have met everyone out there in Goa. But this beach has the best nightlife, with the pubs and clubs so ignore this in the morning but at night this is the beach to be.

Calangute Beach – This is also amongst the crowded beaches and very near to Baga Beach so take a walk till here. This is the place to be if you are planning for some water sports almost all the best rides are available here.

Candolim Beach – This is far from the Baga Beach but is also a great beach to be during an On Season. Loved by the foreign crowd visiting Goa, this beach also has Water Sports. Which I too have tried the last time I visited Goa, At just Rs 600 you get to try 6 rides including paragliding.

Anjuna Beach – Anjuna has the best private night parties and you will definitely be offered one of the pamphlets to join it. With the many restaurants and bars, this is not that beautiful as compared to the other beaches.

Morjim Beach – This is one of the not so crowded beaches, which has a beautiful sunset. So grab your soccer balls and head over there for a game. Keep this for the evening as you are here for the sunset.

Aguada Fort – Aguada Fort and Lighthouse is a well preserved 17th-century Portuguese Fort. Made to prevent ships of the Dutch and Marathas from entering the Mandovi River.

Sinquerim Beach and Fort – Mentioned earlier some of the best views of the sea you will find here.

Day 3 – Ending Your Goa Trip

Arvalem Caves & Waterfall – This is one of the spots you should visit if you are planning to see something different this time in Goa. The caves are decent but the waterfall is a treat after the 40kms ride to the place. You are not allowed to go near the waterfall as the water flows at tremendous speeds which you can even feel at a distance.

Dudhsagar Falls – This is the most famous waterfall, everyone would suggest you should visit. With some spice garden, bath on an elephant and the swim in the waterfall with the fish is really awesome. You can either go to Arvalem Caves & Waterfalls or the Dudhsagar Falls. As doing both is not possible as they are located at some distance from main Goa.

Chapora Fort (Dil Chahta Hai) – The famous Dil Chahta Hai Fort, with lots of history which are now all ruins. But this fort got famous after the movie which was shot here Dil Chahta Hai. Making it one of the best places to visit in Goa. Also, I went towards the cliff crossing the walls of the fort, with a few of the tourists out there. And the Vagator Beach looked like a miniature from here just the drone shots you see nowadays on most videos.

Vagator Beach – So you can end your day before boarding your bus, flight, train visiting the Vagator Beach which is very near to the Chapora Fort.

And that’s how many places you can actually visit on a relaxed long weekend at Goa. Hope you liked the article, do let me know if you would like to see more such articles. Also, visit my youtube playlist to watch all the vlogs – Click here.
