With 2017 coming close to a sweet end, we all look forward to the new year. And the most important research that consumes us is the ‘Long Weekends’! Many a times it so happens that we plan to travel in the coming year, but something or the other gets in the way. Maybe the planning was too late, the budget too low, the weather not at its best...and so on. An offbeat long weekend destination is Tawang. Located in the vibrant Arunachal Pradesh, the festival Losar is celebrated with great enthusiasm here. Welcoming the new year, you can be a part of this 15-day long festivities. Cultural theatre and dance along with storytelling and games is a great way to spend a weekend.

When I think about Janmashtami, the remarkable Dwarka celebrations come before my eyes. The opulent 5 storey temple is lit up with lamps and night long celebrations with devotional songs and garba and raas are the core of this festival. Birth of the Lord is lauded with his favourite feast of butter, curd, buttermilk and the likes. 

12) 13, 14, 15, 16 - Ganesh Chaturthi, Take a leave, Saturday, Sunday

Where to Go:

  • Romantic Getaway- Coonoor, Tamil Nadu

Whether it’s a honeymoon trip or a romantic getaway, Coonoor is a pristine destination that will help you shed the stress and pressure of the ceremonies or the monotonous routine.
