Duer offering free pants to first comers

By Patti Pietschmann

There's a new kid in town. It's Duer, direct from Vancouver B.C.--a chic boutique offering amazing pants, shorts, tees and other casual wear all made from sustainable materials.

Located on trendy La Brea Avenue in mid-town LA, the shop is celebrating its opening with a giveaway this week.  The first 50 people who show up will get free pants!  We're talking bottoms that go for $100 and up.

But not your everyday sportswear. These pants are made for performance.  Breathable, comfortable and fashionable.

The Duer story

DUER was created to make it easier for people to get dressed and get on with the good stuff --- the healthy, adventurous, meaningful stuff. The first retail location in Vancouver opened in 2016 with three Canadian stores to follow. In 2020, DUER opened its first U.S. storefront in Denver, Colorado. DUER now has customers in over 27 different countries worldwide and products in 700 independent retailers through its wholesale network. From REI to Nordstrom, DUER effectively bridges the gap between fashion and function for both men and women.

The LA Connection

Located in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles, at  170 South La Brea Avenue - aka 'streetwear row, Duer mingles with retailers; Arc'teryx, Fjällräven, American Rag Cie, Carhartt WIP, Champion, Stüssy, Union, Nudie Jeans & Bonobos.

The  minimalist, white and black store sells clothing that combines experiential and sensory elements to narrate the natural and sustainable materials, such as plants, trees, wood chips and recycled plastic bottles, that make up 95% of DUER's garments.

Interactive and experiential design has been in the brand DNA since DUER's first store in Vancouver that featured a product testing ground also known as the performance playground.

I recently visited the shop and tried on pants and tees. OMG the fabric felt so good on my skin. I wound up with a silky, black tee shirt and black pants that hugged my hips and legs and made me feel like walking.  I love this shop and the cool clothing, not mention helpful Miguel who is pictured in the lead photo I took.

FYI: that's not me in the black pants nd tops but taken from the Duer website, it is however, the set I came home with.
