A photographic tribute to the late, great artist Frederic Holley--man of many muses and talents

When you meet a man as rare as Frederic you never forget him

 By Patti Pietschmann,Travel Diva/muse

Frederic did this abstract portrait of me many years ago. I posed daily for about a month in his lair sipping jug wine while his ocelot and bobcat frolicked. Yes he had the two animals in his room.In fact one of them pawed 90 pound me and knocked me off my chair.  No harm done.
I was  gratefully one of the many Muses of Frederic Holley back in the 70s.

A most unusual man and over-the-top creative artist

Whimsical, wonderful, generous of heart and gentle, Frederic amassed many muses throughout the globe.   He also did some far out art such as a series of vaginal art.

He also got himself a Rembrandt which he proudly displayed one day when visiting us in California and jokingly remarked, "I be the first black man to own a Rembrandt."

I was sadden to hear of his death in December of 2008 but glad to know he led a happy and productive life and that I was a small part of it.

Among his many muses and friends is Peter De Bruyn from Belgium who recently sent me the following email and photos of Frederic's works:

"I first did meet Frederick in 1979, in Lier (Belgium). He was a very good friend of my wife's aunt, who also was one of his many muses in Europe. I do know that he stayed and worked in a lot of locations in Europe. Germany, Belgium, Holland, Austria, Sweden etc.
We did see each other on different occasions, between 1979 and 2001. Then he returned to the USA, were we kept contact by phone. And by mail (he did send a lot of audio casettes).

When my wife Linda's aunt passed away, we cleared her house and found some 130 of Frederick's works in it. I have them since then in my possession.

I would like that Frederick could earn the recognition that he  earned as an artist.
i've been able to trace some people, who were his friends in Europe and the USA.
Maybe, if we bundle our efforts, we could give him some posthumous recognition. And make his oeuvre known to the world."

And here it goes:

This was probably another one of  Frederic many muses:
