An evening with super Island Chef Bev Gannon and husband Joe's lovely eatery
Richard & Patti Pietschmann
It's always a pleasure dining with top Hawaiian Chef Beverly Gannon and her husband Joe at one one their two restaurants on Maui, Gannons at Wailea and Hali'imaile General Store – A Bev Gannon Restaurant in upcountry Maui--or that matter anywhere. True foodies and top-notch hosts, the pair produces some of the best meals in the Islands at their eateries and with their popular catering business.
Our latest sampling of the Gannon fare was as good as ever with Bev ordering rounds of appetizers--many of which are offered at reduced prices during an extended 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. nightly happy hour (drinks are also reduced rates).
So here's what we ate and loved in a Hawaiian seashell:
Ahi Poke with taro chips and heavenly seasoning
Rich and flavorful duck salad
Tasty tater tots with a Bev twist (not to be missed)

Meat, luscious Kalua pork spring rolls |
The best pork chop in the world
Mouth-watering meaty Hapu with flavors that dance in your head |
My fave rave cashew-crusted local Mahi Mahi Cookie monster treats |
Of course there were rounds of perfect Aviation gin martinis, a heady margarita and fine wines.
