Hotel Paris-Tokyo Consignment Shop

Stephane Verdino was a successful handbag and accessory designer for many years but sold his namesake brand in 2016. Switching gears, but still remaining in the fashion business, he recently opened a new high-end consignment/Depot-vente boutique in the northern Marais with his partner Thibaut Renaud.

I visited the boutique last Saturday afternoon and it was chock full of shoppers scoping out a designer bargain. I perused the racks and found the clothes in excellent condition, neatly pressed,  and the shoe bottoms not scoffed.

The well-organized shop has the women’s department on the right side and men’s on the left, with racks not too overstuffed. Shoes and handbags are neatly displayed on shelves above the racks.

On the men’s rack a shiny, red satin YSL blazer stood out from the rest of the pack; I pondered buying it but realized unless I was walking the red carpet for The Oscars, I would have no use for it.

I found many of the garments surprisingly well priced for the quality and label, especially a handsome black and white Chanel knit jacket, a steal at only 600€.

The brands sold at Hotel Paris-Tokyo include Comme des Garçons,Yohji Yamamoto,YSL, Chanel, Balenciaga, Gucci, Marni, Martin Margiela, Alexander McQueen, and Prada.

I asked Stephane why he named the shop Hotel Paris-Tokyo and he told me in his 30 plus years in fashion he had made 26 trips to Tokyo. It’s also based on his fondness for Japanese design.

The boutique also carries a selection of small leather goods that Verdino and Renaud designed, with the same name as the boutique, Hotel Paris-Tokyo.
