If there ever were a legendary window decorator, it would be Leïla Menchari, who works for Hermes.
She has designed the visionary windows for 40 years at the flagship boutique on rue Faubourg Saint Honore. The windows have always represented the fantasy of world travel, especially to the Far and Middle East and Menchari has a long history of commissioning artists, painters, craftsmen, glass makers, and sculptors to fulfill her creations.
Hermes is sponsoring an exhibition at the Grand Palais to celebrate the creative genius of Leïla Menchari. They’ve enlisted Nathalie Crinière, who designed the current smash hit Dior exhibition, to recreate some of Menchari greatest work. In the eight vitrines, Crinière has imagined the visual world according to Menchari.
Born in Tunisia, then graduating from the prestigious Beaux-Arts university, Menchari went to work at Hermes in 1962, quickly climbing the ranks and in 1978 she became head of window displays.
A book showcasing her window designs, Leïla Menchari, la Reine Mage, is being published simultaneously along with the exhibition.

Centrally located in the heart of the Marais near the St. Paul metro station, it's a spacious one-bedroom 750 sq. ft. loft style apartment with 12 ft. ceilings, decorated in chic Mid-Century Modern furniture and sleeps one or two people in a Queen size bed. Amenities include A/C, washer/dryer, 16" flat screen TV, dishwasher, internet connection/Wifi and free long distance calls to the U.S. The apartment is located on the second floor with an elevator.
