After Louie at BFI Flare Film Festival

Last Friday night was the world premiere screening of After Louie, the film my partner Vincent directed and co-wrote, at the BFI/British Film Institute Flare Film Festival in London.

I took the Eurostar to London Friday afternoon for the first screening at 6:15PM, taking place in the larger theater of the BFI. The screening was sold out. The director of the festival introduced Vincent before the film and asked a few questions. During his speech Vincent publicly said he couldn’t have made the film without me, which made me almost cry.

The film received enthusiastic applause and cheers at the end. After the film there was a brief Q&A with Vincent and some of the crew and cast from the film including Zac Booth and Sarita Choudhory (Unfortunately, Alan Cumming couldn’t attend). The people asking the questions commented on how much they liked the film and how they related to it.

I had watched the film a number of times on my computer but seeing it on the big screen made such a difference. I saw so many things I hadn’t noticed before which added a deeper appreciation of the film.

We also had our own cheering section in the audience of many of our friends who live in London.

After the Q&A, there was a live Facebook interview with the cast and crew. Click this link to watch.

Later that evening we had a celebratory dinner at a local restaurant with friends and the cast and crew.

There were two more sold out screenings of After Louie on Saturday and Sunday.
