28/02/2016 - Having heard on the grapevine that the Ladybird Cafe served a mean platter, I meandered along one lazy sunny Sunday. Cafe by name, much more by nature, the Ladybird Cafe is a vineyard, salmon farm and restaurant all rolled into one. You can fish for your own salmon and the chefs will prepare and cook it for you.
We opted for the salmon and ladybird platters which came accompanied by cold smoked, hot smoked, sashimi and sous vide style salmons, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, hummus, wasabi, a selection of cheeses, olives, watermelon and healthy helpings of bread washed down with a refreshing glass of pinot gris, all of which was delicious. The perfect place to chill out sat beside a peaceful lake for families, friends and couples alike, and if you can still move after all the lovely food and drink, you can climb up Ladybird hill for views of Omarama.
