LAKE LOUISE AT EASTER

Lake Louise

Visit Lake Louise in mid April and most likely you will not see any lake here. The upmarket chateau style hotel is perched on the banks of Lake Louise with the steep slopes of the ski fields towering high above. In Summer, the lake water gleams a remarkably bright blue colour, however over the Winter the lake becomes heavily frozen. Even in Spring it is, not only possible but indeed recommended by the visitor centre, to hike across the frozen ice as other trails remain vulnerable to avalanches. The road to Moraine Lake is still impassable and closed at this time of year.

Lake Louise

This edition of the blog features photographs, all of which were taken of the frozen surface of Lake Louise.

Lake Louise

If residing at the Chateau is going to break the bank, an afternoon exploring the frozen waterfalls and launching snowballs is a fun way to spend a couple of hours.
