If you are really into your skiing and snowboarding, Revelstoke is the place for you. It might not have all the trappings of Whistler but it did get the most snow of all the resorts the season just gone and it has a great selection of really interesting, unique and ungroomed runs. But for me, it had absolutely the best views and the best weather too. I first heard about Revvie when hitching a ride in New Zealand off some Aussies who had worked a season there. They described it as having a much more laid back vibe than some of the other resorts. I have to agree with him. I like the way that the accommodation is in the town which has just been slotted right into the middle of the mountains. One of my favourite things is that you don't have to get your lunch at a canteen! There is a delicious cafe at the top and bottom of the mountain by the name of La Baguette that does delicious sandwiches and soups at a much more reasonable price than you would ever find in Whistler. It's easy to get to the Resort via a free shuttle that leaves regularly from the town and if you are on a budget, I would recommend booking direct with Poppy's guesthouse. Scroll away!
