If there’s one activity that people living in Makati and nearby places look forward to in the coming -ber months that would be Ayala Land Inc.’s (ALI) Christmas light show at Ayala Triangle Gardens. For some residents, it’s a year-long wait that signals Christmas is officially here.
Festival of Lights at Ayala Triangle Gardens
The Festival of Lights 2017 is now in its 9th year. But it’s extra special this year because this Christmas light show in Makati was awarded as one of the Seven Most Spectacular Lights in the World by Conde Nast Travellers.
Voltaire de Jesus, the award-winning light and sound director, and Luther Gumia choreograph this year’s light show where 1.6 million LED lights are used to add brilliance to Ayala Triangle Gardens. That and while remaining environmentally sustainable.
Like the previous years, the light show is accompanied by Christmas medleys with distinct themes. For 2017, the themes revolve around Pinoy Fiesta by Roy del Valle, Traditional Christmas by Von de Guzman and Techno by Tris Sunguitan. A medley will be played every 30 minutes from 6 to 10 pm, starting from November 9 until January 7, 2018.
Bringing joy to more people with more Christmas lights show
Other parts of the country get to enjoy their own versions of Christmas light shows, courtesy of ALI. Similar shows are held simultaneously in Nuvali, Bonifacio Global City, Vertis North, Centrio and Ayala Center Cebu.
Nuvali’s Magical Field of Lights
After a successful light show in 2016, Nuvali’s Magical Field of Lights is back with a bigger and brighter display this 2017. That is after winning the coveted Silver Stevie award last year.
With de Jesus at the helm, Magical Field of Lights features 5,000 tulip bud-shaped lights, 1,000 tube lights, laser lights and a light tunnel. Colored lights in a shape of Christmas tree are also scattered around the field. Other light installations are also found on the field’s outskirts.
Some of the light installations at the field change colors in time to music medleys. For this year, the chosen Christmas medleys’ themes are Joy to the World (classic Christmas carols), Kumukutikutitap (Pinoy Christmas songs) and another one with dubstep-techno feel to cater to the millennial spectators. A medley is played with 30-minute intervals.
Nuvali opens its light show on November 11, 6 pm and will run until January 7, 2018.
Bonifacio Global City’s Season of Passions
BGC is celebrating Season of Passions, a three-month-long festivities that include a Christmas light show. With crystal universe-inspired lights and sounds, a giant gift box is right in the middle lit with colorful lights. There’s also a Christmas tree in the middle. Indeed, the lights have never shone brighter here in BGC.
Light installations are also integrated with the art installations in BGC. All major streets are also adorned with crystal balls that mimic snowballs when lit, turning the city into a Pinoy-style winter wonderland.
Season of Passions light show runs from November 29 to January 7, 2018.

Inside the church are cyber spheres and meteor lights. What makes it unique from other light shows is the lasers that mimic Aurora Borealis.
Vertis Northern Lights is executed by de Jesus and this time, with the help of Zenas Pineda, a renowned designer. The light show they design for this mall complex is quite thematic of Simbang Gabi.
It starts on and will run until January 8, 2018.
