How to Ring in the New Year in New Orleans

How to Ring in the New Year in New Orleans

Christmastime in New Orleans is magical, but the holidays don’t end after Santa leaves the city. With large displays, free concerts, parades, and more, these are some of the best ways to ring in the New Year in New Orleans.

Audubon’s “Zoo Year’s Eve”

Those traveling with children may think it’s impossible to find kid-friendly New Year’s Eve events, but Audubon Zoo’s “Zoo Year’s Eve” proves that they can. Free for Audubon members or included with regular admission, this event offers activities, music, and games for children of any age on New Year’s Eve and Day.

Louisiana Children’s Museum’s “Countdown to Noon”

The Louisiana Children’s Museum also offers a unique child-friendly take on New Year’s Eve. Instead of trying to keep sleepy children awake until midnight, parents and kids can count down until 12 p.m. At noon, the Louisiana Children’s Museum celebrates the New Year with confetti, balloons, noisemakers, and hats.

Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve

Lucy Hale hosts this year’s “Central Time Zone New Year’s Countdown!” near Jax Brewery in the French Quarter. With live music, celebrity appearances, and fireworks orchestrated by the Crescent City Countdown Club, this new and unique event has put New Orleans on the map when it comes to New Year’s celebrations. Jax Brewery is also conveniently close to Jackson Square, where locals and travelers will be partying until midnight when the fireworks light up all of downtown—and then partying even more.

Allstate Sugar Bowl Parade

Parades are one of the must-see New Orleans attractions, and the Allstate Sugar Bowl Parade at 3:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve is no exception. Beginning at Elysian Fields and Decatur, this parade runs through the French Quarter, passes Jackson Square, and ends at Canal Street, meaning there are multiple great places to catch the display.

Ride the Natchez Into the New Year

One of the most iconic New Orleans experiences, the Steamboat Natchez allows partygoers to ride into 2019 on a riverboat. With holiday food, an open bar, and live music until 12:30, this is easily one of the most memorable and unique ways to experience New Years. It also offers a stellar view of the fireworks display over the Mighty Mississippi.

Whether you’re 9 or 90, there are endless ways to ring in the New Year in the Big Easy. Joieful can help you make the most of your visit to the city for New Years, or for any other time. View our packages online or purchase your experience today by calling 504-207-4555.
