As a nice introduction to Grand Teton National park we decided to take a short hike around Phelps Lake. Phelps Lake is a quick 40 minute drive from Jackson and the loop trail is 1.8 miles.
We decide to walk a little further and take the spur trail towards the entrance of death canyon. Unfortunately there was still quite a bit of snow around and the trail soon disappeared and we had to turn back. However, by taking this extra trail you do get a really nice elevated view back across the lake.
One of the best things about this hike is how deserted it was. We only bumped into a couple of other people walking round the lake which was excellent.
