United Airlines to resume domestic and international routes; adds nearly 25,000 flights

In a bid to boost its Flight offerings, United Airlines has added nearly 25,000 more flights than July to its August schedule. Despite the ebbs and flows in demand, the Airline is quite optimistic about business this summer.

While United Airlines will resume flights on 50 routes from July to August, the number would soon be increased to provide better connectivity to mid-continental hubs like Denver, Houston and Chicago.

The Vice President of United Airlines’ domestic network planning, Ankit Gupta said that the carrier is going to be extremely flexible by placing more flights in the states that have an increased demand, and moving flights from places which are running low on demand.

After a prolonged suspension due to the pandemic, the airline has also announced its return to China, along with reinstating services to Tahiti in French Polynesia. The latter is all set to welcome American tourists later in July.

Apart from this, United Airlines is also adding service between Chicago, Brussels, and Frankfurt, as well as resuming service between Newark, Brussels, Munich, and Zurich, and between San Francisco and London. The move is expected to boost travel between these destinations.

As the airline gears up for expansion of its services, it has also doubled down on its mask-wearing policy. According to some senior officials at the airlines, United Airlines is pledging to temporarily ban passengers if they refuse to wear one and has required customers to disclose their health status as a part of the check-in process.

However, when it comes to limiting the number of people on planes, United continues its policy of notifying customers 24 hours before a flight if that plane is likely to be full and give them the option to either choose a different flight or receive a travel credit. The policy came into effect after a photo of the flight with full seating capacity went viral. The airline had received a great backlash due to the viral photo.

The airline’s Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer, Josh Earnest said that even as United Airlines had to dramatically change and adjust many of its policies and protocols, it continues to put the safety of its customers first. “If you want to stay safe on an airplane you need to wear a mask, the airplane needs to have good filtration. We have been doing that for a while now,” Earnest said.
