The Enchanting Castle Of Ravadinovo

Hello, fellow bloggers and readers. Ready for Easter? I know I am. Today, I have a very interesting place to tell you about. As you can see it is a Castle. Now, you might be wondering – what a nice castle, it must have a rich history. Let me stop you right there. The construction began in 1996. The castle of Ravadinovo is situated near the village of Ravadinovo (no surprise here). It is about 2-3 km west from Sozopol (major summer resort). Georgi Tumpalov is the architect behind the beautiful building. So, no historical events happened here, no battles, no royalties were living here. But, this place is special for other reasons. Mr. Tumpalov had e child dream. He wanted a breathtaking and enchanting castle, so he took matters in his own hands and years later he fulfilled his dream.

Here is a link to the website of the castle – http://zamaka.bg/en/ .

Now, let me tell you about my experience there.

It was a hot August day. The sun was high in the sky, since it was noon, and I could feel the heat becoming more and more powerful. I was thinking that it was not a good idea to go to the castle in this hot weather. We parked the car, which was extremely easy, because there was a lot of parking space, got out of the car and continued towards the castle. The sand underneath my feet was burning hot. I was wondering which is hotter – the sand, or my head. We paid the 10 leva fee and entered the gardens surrounding the castle. For my surprise there was a refreshing breeze there.

There were a lot of other visitors, but it was not crowded. We started our tour with a small pond with fascinating bridges and interesting flowers. I was astonished by every little detail. You could see how much work was done. It wasn’t just some random castle. Every stone, every brick, every flower, every ornament was just in the right place and was part of a great plan.

The building itself is in the form of a cross, which can be seen from above. There are a lot of crosses in the façade as well. There were a few fountains in the gardens, as well as some very interesting statues. A small chapel with white statues of nuns in front of it is waiting for every one who wants to light a candle.

Flowers are everywhere. White, yellow, pink, red – everything is so colorful. The castle itself is wrapped in ivy, which gives it an enchanting look. There are peacocks walking around and a small zoo-like house in the far end of one of the gardens.

Huge pond lies behind the castle with swans and ducks swimming in it. There is a fake crocodile on a platform in the middle of it. To be honest, at first I thought it was real and got a little bit scared. There are a café and a restaurant where you can relax, grab a bite or drink something refreshing. Behind the castle there is a fountain which reminded me of the one in Rome, but I think that’s the point. The building features an escape room and can be booked for a wedding.
