TTB’s 3 Fascinating Facts About Santa Fe

The Travel Bug recently rolled into Santa Fe because his humans decided they’d get married there and he didn’t really want to miss out on out the chance to drink margaritas and celebrate the day.  However, he did make them promise that he’d be given time off from his Best Bug duties to spend time gathering fascinating facts. If not, he demanded he be taken somewhere else.  Immediately.  Luckily for everyone, Santa Fe had lots of stuffs to offer up and it made it quite hard just to choose 3.

  • Santa Fe is very famous for its margaritas (which he suspects helped his humans make their decision about getting hitch there…), and the city has an official Margarita Trail. There are 31 stops on the trail and all margaritas are made with 100% Agave Tequila. It gives a fantastic feel for the culture of the city and, more importantly, its ability to mix  good drinks. TTB couldn’t go on the trail because he’s not 21 yet.
  • Santa Fe sits at 7,000 feet above sea level, which makes it the highest capital city in the entire United States.
  • Don Pedro de Peralta was the third Spanish Governor of New Mexico and the man who is officially credited for founding Santa Fe in 1608, giving it the honour of being the oldest of all the state capitals.

Do you have any other fascinating facts about Santa Fe to share with The Travel Bug?
