10 Romantic Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day at Walt Disney World

10 Ways to Celebrate Valentine's Day at Walt Disney World

Disney Magic and Romance are the Ideal Combination for Valentine’s Day

When you think of the most Romantic settings in the world, what comes to mind? Strolling along a moonlit beach with torches casting a romantic glow? Stopping to relax in a hammock between tied between two palm trees while waves kiss the sand and resort lights twinkle in the distance? Sound inviting?

This scenario plays out just about every night at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort — and there are many more romantic things to see and do at Walt Disney World Resort. So if you are making plans for Valentine’s Day–or any other romantic occasion, then this post is for you.

10 great ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day (or any other romantic occasion) at Walt Disney World

Senses Spa DIsney Saratoga Springs

1. Spa Treatments for Two

If you are a couple who loves spas, Walt Disney World has two excellent options where you can relax and unwind together. The Disney Senses Spas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort feature couples rooms for a great romantic and relaxing experience.

Disney Parasailing over Bay Lake at Walt Disney World

2. Parasailing Together

Looking for a little adventure to go with your romance? Head over to Disney’s Contemporary Resort where you and your partner can parasail together on a tandem ride over Bay Lake. This is an exciting high-flying adventure with glorious views of the Magic Kingdom and surrounding area. Disney parasailing is a fun and unique experience for adventurous couples.

Disney Aerophile Hot Air Balloon, Disney Springs

Adventure awaits: soar high above Walt Disney World in the Aerophile hot air balloon experience at Disney Springs.

3. Hot Air Balloon Ride

If you like the idea of experiencing the “World” from high in the sky, but don’t want to get wet parasailing, you can still enjoy a romantic flight together. Head over to Disney Springs where you can board the Aerophile hot air balloon. This is a fun hot air balloon ride that floats 400 feet above the ground, offering second-to-none views of Walt Disney World (and beyond). You likely won’t have the balloon to yourself on this one, but if you time it right you can catch a flight at sunset or during the fireworks displays for a little extra burst of romance and Disney magic.

4. Horseback Ride

If you’re looking for something a little more down to earth, how about a romantic horseback ride through the woods? Nature lovers will love the rides offered at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort where you can enjoy 45-minute guided trail rides through the pine woodlands of this resort’s natural setting. Tours leave several times daily from Trail Blaze Corral at the Tri-Circle-D Ranch. Call Disney Reservations for more information: 407- 939-7529.

Horse Drawn Carriage Disney Fort Wilderness

As the sun begins to set, the time is ideal for a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride, such as this one at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.

5. Carriage Ride

Like the idea of horses but don’t want to ride one? You’re in luck. Horse-drawn carriage rides are also offered through the wilderness trails of Fort Wilderness and also at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside. There aren’t many things more romantic than snuggling up with your partner in an old fashioned horse-drawn carriage through natural surroundings. The rides are approximately 25 minutes long and leave from Pioneer Hall at Fort Wilderness and Boatwright’s Dining Hall at Port Orleans. Call Disney Reservations for more information: 407- 939-7529.

6. Private Yacht

If you really want to go all out, charter the Grand 1 — the Grand Floridian’s luxurious 52-foot yacht. Couples (or groups up to a max of 18 people) can cruise Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake in ultimate style. If you want to turn up the romance meter, charter a nighttime cruise for an amazing view of the Happily Ever After fireworks over Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park. Couples will receive butler service and you can even add a gourmet meal or champagne with chocolate-covered strawberries. This one doesn’t come cheap, but it is an experience you will never forget. You are well advised to book the Grand 1 in advance, since it can book up quickly. Call 407-939-7529 for rates and more information.

Surrey Bikes at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort

7. Bike Rides

A bicycle built for two is a romantic notion, but not always the most practical way to enjoy the company of your Valentine. To go one better, rent a surrey bike at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn (or several other places around Walt Disney World, including Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, pictured above) and you can enjoy a cozy bike ride side-by-side with your special someone. Riding along the Disney Boardwalk and adjacent area at night — amidst the lights and activity of the surrounding area — is a particularly romantic experience.

8. Fireworks from the Beach

Not every romantic experience costs money. Since the very beginning of Walt Disney World in 1971 one of the most romantic experiences of all is still watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach of Disney’s Polynesian Resort. This is a very romantic atmosphere at night and if you’re lucky you may even be able to cuddle up on a beach swing or side by side in beach chairs.

9. Moonlit Swing

Speaking of cuddling up in the moonlight, another great spot for this is a beach swing at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. Here you can cuddle up together and take in all of the sights and sounds of Disney’s Boardwalk area.

10. Romantic Dinner for Two

No romantic vacation together would be complete without at least one extra special dinner for two. While Disney World is known for its fun themed dining and character experiences, it is also home to some first-rate award-winning restaurants, many of which are ideal for a romantic dinner for two. You can choose from very formal experiences such as Victoria & Albert’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, to more relaxed–yet very elegant–surroundings such as California Grill atop Disney’s Contemporary Resort (where you can get a great view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks if you time your meal just right). Other great choices include Artist Point at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge or Jiko at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Whatever your tastes, there is a great romantic spot for you somewhere around the “World.” For more information, here is a blog entry I wrote on these and other great upscale Walt Disney World restaurants.
