Travel Talks with Chai

Chai is often a central theme in tales of Travel from India. Be it a piping hot masala Chai on a local train, a ‘kahwah’ in chilly and misty Kashmir, jasmine tea at the Taj Hotel in Bombay or simply the tea my grandma demands whenever the clock strikes 4 (am or pm!) – chai and travel go hand in hand.

To celebrate this spirit of discovery and adventure, Byond Travel in collaboration with Chai Point organized an event in attempt to bring together tea and travel lovers to share their experiences from their journeys over a cup of chai.

Hosted at Chai Point’s brand new outlet in Indiranagar, the event fittingly began with the group getting to know each other over a chai. Facilitating and leading the discussion was the amazing Rohith Subramanian – a 23-year-old adventurist who has been on the road for the past 2.5 years, who has travelled to over 35 + countries, who lives out of a caravan and who is currently planning an epic 2-year ride from Argentina to Alaska.

Needless to say that Rohith had enough anecdotes to last the entire afternoon but my favorite piece was the part where a person he had met in South East Asia hosted him while he was on a trip in Europe. Such stories go to show how deep and meaningful connections can be made through travel and reinforce the notion of how essential travel (and often chai!) is to community building!

The event wrapped up with a fun travel Q&A session and a free tasting of Chai Point’s new ‘Lovely Iced Tea’ – a delicious drink made from Jaljeera, Beetroot, Carrot and tea!
