Choose your destination according to your interests. Think about what attracts you, what you like doing, and prepare your itinerary accordingly.

2. Slow down

"Jitna bhi try karo, life me kuch na kuch toh chootega hi" ("How ever hard you try, you'll always miss out on something in life") is a dialogue from the movie, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani. It is very true in real life and we all should accept and follow it. It is much better to see one place completely than many places partially. This in result will give you less stress and you will have more time to build relationships with the people you meet.

3. Avoid the crowds

If you get bored of visiting crowdy cities, then India also has plenty of quiet retreats. You can head to the backwaters of Kerala in the South India, north for the Indo-Tibetian retreat, north east for the exciting cultural experience.

4. Stay healthy and hygienic

Avoid tap water, and any food that may have been washed in it. Say no to ice, salads and unhealthy fruits. Many travellers transform to vegetarian while travelling in India. It's not a bad idea. A dodgy bit of meat will do you a lot more harm than slightly undercooked vegetables. And many Indians are vegetarian, so you will have a great choice of vegetarian food. If you want to eat non-vegetarian food, make sure it's well cooked. Don't forget to carry soap/hand sanitizer with you so that you can wash your hands properly.

5. Stay Calm & Cool

Indian markets are famous for bargaining. There are various ways you can reduce the chances of
being overcharged. The only advice for first time travel in India is to remain calm and have patience. Don't frustate, just take a deep breath and move on, and enjoy your journey.
