Lineside Liaisons #3 Gympie

Diesels out to pasture in Gympie, Queensland.

This photo of a rusting Queensland Railways 1620 class diesel is from my book Last Train to Brisbane, and was taken in Gympie, Queensland, Australia. Gympie's old Railway station was restored by the Mary Valley Heritage Railway and operated as a fully accredited heritage railway between 1998 and 2012 before sadly closing down. Thankfully plans are well underway to re-open this once popular tourist railway.
