7) Fatehpur Sikri

Among the top not to miss places of Agra, the Fatehpur Sikri offers a majestic view of the place. This historical monument was built by Akbar in memory of a sufi saint. It is a perfect place for blend of Indian, Persian and Islamic architecture. It covers city’s famous buildings such as Buland Darwaza, Jama Masjid, Birbal’s house and Panch Mahal. For around ten years, it has remained the capital of Mughal empire. It is surrounded by 6 km long walls on each 3 sides. To reach here, Fatehpur Sikri is around 40 km distance from Agra. The nearest airport would be Agra airport and nearest railway station will be Fatehpur Sikri railway station, about 1 km from the city. Also, you can find toursit buses and taxis to take you here.

6) Mehtab Bagh

Made in 1652, this is the most beautiful place to see among the tourist places in Agra. It is a sort of charbagh complex in Agra, India. You will find this bagh in north side of Taj Mahal and opposite to the Yamuna river. It is the last garden among the eleven gardens constructed earlier by mughal emperors. This was made by first mughal ruler, Babur. You will find here white plaster walkways to walk, pools and fountains and fruit trees were also created a part of the garden. Frequent floods and villagers extracting material runied the beauty of this garden. By the year 1990, this garden almost lost his existence. A compound wall surrounds the garden. A large octagonal pond reflects the image of Mausolem. It is open year round. Mehtab Bagh’s opening timings are 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. It offers great spot for beautiful view of Taj Mahal. Entrance fees for indians is Rs 10 and for the foreigners is Rs 100. It is also known as moonlight garden. As the place is less crowded, you can easily take sunset shots of Taj.

5) Moti Masjid

One of the most beautifully carved and among the historical tourist places in Agra, Moti masjid was built by the great mughal emperor Shah Jahan. This is also called by the name of pearl mosque because it shines like a pearl when morning sun shines bright. This was exclusively built by him for the royal court members. It stands on a sloping ground. It is huge and opens up with a better view of the mosque rather than the other gates. The western hall is the best one. Its carvings on the wall will leave you spell bounded. There are seperate prayer halls for women in the masjid. This space is kept seperated from the main hall. A marble screen seperates the women’s prayer hall from the rest. This masjid is located on the banks of yamuna river. The view is simply amazing and one of the best views among the places to see in Agra. To the right of this mosque is the Diwan-e-Aam.

4) Jodha Bai ka Rauza

This place is dedicated to one of the favorite queens of Akbar, Jodha bai. It is just a simple yet sophisticated building. It is situated in the vicinity of Jahangir Mahal. You can see the Taj mahal through small openings in the wall. You can see here the beautifully carvings on the wall resembling hindu and muslim architecture. Here were the residences of Akbar’s queens. This is known by the name of Marium Uz Zamani’s palace as the queen was actually a rajputi princess. As the designs here are simple and elegant, it can be said that it is made according to the taste of women, There are plenty of designs such as peacocks, elephants, ghant mala and lotus. This symbolises how people used to respect both the cultures and thinking of a mughal emperor and rajputi princess. It is an important monument in the imperial regime of the mughals. The multiple designery and beauty of this place attacts you to see it again and photograph.

3) Itmad-ud-Daulah’s tomb

This is a sort of Mughal mausoleum popular for its monumental architecture. It is actually built with red sandstone. Sometimes people actually refer it to as Baby Taj. This is considered as best tourist places in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Moreover, the interiors of the tomb have many facets that resemble the interiors of Taj mahal. 2) Sikandra Fort

The beauty of the fort never fades and remains beautiful all the time. The fort is surrounded by a lush garden along with four walls around. Each side of garden is positioned into different spaces. It has plenty of fountains. There is a unique pathway to walk and experience architecture all round the place. When you will visit this place, you cannot dent to see the beautiful artistry on display. It is written that Akbar personally designed this fort. This tomb resides on an elevated pyramid. The gateways of the fort are equally magnificent as well. There are four gates and made of sandstone. Mainly, the southern gate leads to Akbar’s mausoleum. 1) Khas Mahal

This Khas mahal lies between yamuna river on one side and Anguri bagh on the other. This was a private palace built by mughal emperor Shahjahan for his daughters Roshnara and Jahanara. They used to once contain paintings of mughal emperors. It is surrounded by fountains, marble domes, open courtyards and a large central hall. The interiors of the palace are covered with gold. The timings to visit this mahal are 6 am in the morning to 5:30 in the evening. The entrance fees is Rs 20 for indians and Rs 300 for foreigners.
