Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport terminals and adjacent areas has been set off-limit for visitors from Monday morning (26/10/2015) . As per the announcement visitors will not be allowed to enter Shahjalal airport terminals on the ground of security reasons. The embargo will remain active until further notice.
Recent incidents in the city compelled the authority to postpone the entrance of visitors visiting the airport fearing subversive activities by unknown miscreants. The decision came after a special meeting with the Civil Aviation Authority, HSI Airport officials and other intelligence organizations of the country.
However, normal movements of passengers will not be hampered anyway. The action has been taken considering the highest security of thousands of national and international passenger using the airport.
Airport Armed Police Battalion, the special security unit of Bangladesh Police engaged for the overall security of the airport has already tightened the security measures at various points of the airport. Extra personnel has also been deployed in those points to ensure the security of the airport.
Visitors are also not allowed to enter the Shahjalal airport terminals concourse hall with tickets like before.
The decision may somehow affect the flow of visitors to the airport and visitors are discouraged to visit the same.
