There are times where two set of wheels can make the difference between a nice but tiring vacation, running all over the place trying to take in as much as you can between sightseeing and endless bus rides and a fabulous time having the freedom to cover long distances and see everything. Visit Faro by car if you are in town for only a few days and you want to take the chance and explore all that the city and its surroundings have to offer!

Faro is more than an administrative center of the Algarve. It is a place with an antique, relevant Roman legacy, a realm where the entwining between the Western and Moorish cultures in the Middle Ages is still tangible and a busy port, with a colorful and happy look and welcoming people to help you feel like home.
The city is the biggest in the Algarve, so to cover it all, you should rent a car in Faro. The local car rental services are very popular and tourists – especially foreigners – know the benefits. A word of caution, though: available cars are very scarce during the summer months, so the best way to avoid such situations is to book in advance. You can do this online and those who come to Portugal often know that January is not too early to book a car for their vacation scheduled for July that year!
However, if the worst thing happened and you are left without a rental car, there is another option that can get you out of trouble: getting a Faro airport transfer or even a local Faro tour. As well as the car rental, this alternative transport option can also be booked online in advance.
In Faro, some places you shouldn’t miss include the Archeological Municipal Museum, the beautiful 18th century church Igreja da Nossa Senhora do Carmo, the Maritime Museum, the secluded Faro Island and the outstanding natural habitat of the Ria Formosa Natural Park.
