A few weeks ago, we celebrated Ava’s 7th Birthday… with an art party! Scrolling Pinterest around the holidays, Ava and I both fell in love with the idea of an art/painting party! She loves art, so this was meant to be… a match made in Party Heaven!

Once we decided on a theme, I created an inspiration board to make sure I had enough for the party and that everything went well together. I knew I wanted a color scheme involving colorful pastels! Here’s the Art Party mood board I used:

When I started pulling out my party supplies, I decided to base the entire color scheme off of this felt ball garland and these plates/napkins. Then, I used this dreamy + fully customizable backdrop from Glam Fete that I also used for Ava’s Unicorn Party a couple of years ago. Next, I ordered a few items from Amazon, including these canvas and easel sets, these paintbrushes, and these paint palettes.

I purchased most of our acrylic paints from Target because I loved all of their color options. I also got some white disposable tablecloths from there since I knew we’d likely be making a mess.

For treats, I picked up an ice cream cake from Walmart as well as some fun pink + white swirled icing cookies. For this party, I kept the food simple and focused more on the art activities.

We started the party with painting. Most of the kiddos brought their own paint shirt, or I let them borrow one of ours, since we weren’t using washable paint.

I was so impressed with how focused and creative everyone got with their painting! I didn’t have any prompts or examples for them but that could always be an option.

I made sure to set out a solo cup with water for their brushes, as well as a paper plates, and plenty of napkins. I divided the paintbrushes between the kids but tried to be sure they each had 8-10 so they didn’t have to keep washing their brushes out.

We let them choose which paint colors they wanted and the parents helped me a lot with filling their palettes up with paint.

After they finished painting, they had a little break to play and eat lunch. After lunch, of course, we sang to Ava/she blew out her candles.

Then, the moms that stayed for the party and I passed out paint palettes complete with vanilla with white icing cupcakes. In the palette, we gave the kids a selection of sprinkles to choose from so they could decorate their own cupcake, leaning into the art theme even more.

Ava had the best time with her sweet lil’ friends and so did I! Honestly, this was one of the most enjoyable and fun parties I’ve ever hosted! I tried to link everything I could but please let me know if I didn’t or if you have any questions in the comments.
