Fortunately we picked this spot as our first destination. Cause the following day. Malaysia was on lockdown and Entopia would have been closed. We didn’t get the opportunity to go to the Teddyville Museum cause they closed a day before the lockdown. I read in many websites on Penang that Entopia is the best spot to visit in Penang and I 100% concur with them. Although some may say the cost is somewhat steep, yet you should visit Entopia once in the course of your life.
Entopia is a large enclosed park where butterflies are allowed to fly around. Parking is ample and staff is friendly. The place is very well organised. The owners have put great thought into this places as the paths are easily accessible. My family had a ton of fun admiring the wonderful butterflies flying around. Some even landed on us. So walk slowly and quietly and enjoy the moment.

Aside from the butterflies flying around, there is the Cocoon. Cocoon is a fun and educational discovery areas for the kids on insects. There are various segments with various themes. There is even one section on how it would like to be as small as an insect in their underground lair. You could walk around, among huge ants and larva. Extremely educational. The staff are extremely helpful. There is silk area where my children got an opportunity to spin silk treads out of a genuine silk worms. The spun strings were attached to little book markers.

My Verdict

If you visit Penang this is a must see place. We spend about 3 hours there and felt that it wasn’t enough. There beautiful butterflies flying everywhere. One even landed on my wife’s forehead. Which was really funny. And it was a few mile from our hotel at Batu Ferringhi. Do look out for different activities that you can experience like releasing the butterflies.  Which we missed as we were in the middle of the park when they announced it. But the kids managed to extract silk treads out of silk worms to make into a bookmarker string to bring home. Something I feel they wouldn’t have a chance anywhere else. Very Educational and interesting.
