As I am living in North of Malaysia, today I took the opportunity to go around the city and to explore some of the attractions in Alor Setar, Kedah.

First stop at the Y.B Tun Dr.Mahathir Mohamad Birthplace (Rumah Kelahiran Mahathir Mohamad).

Y.B Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad is the fourth Prime Minister of Malaysia.

It is a mini complex of malay traditional houses which includes the Y.B Tun Dr.Mahathir Mohamad old house, Auditorium and various exhibits.

I was fascinated by the Y.B Tun Dr.Mahathir Mohamad old house, the house features the living, bridal room, guest room, reading room, parents room, kitchen. The sizes of the rooms are quite  small.

In the other traditional houses within the complex, there exhibits his previous articles as a journalist for the Strait Times in Singapore, his past as a doctor, and some of his medical accessories, which includes his career as politician, family, hobbies and preferred snacks.

Outside you will also see his preferred bicycle, the Lanca once used by Tun Dr.Mahathir Mohamad and his brother as the transport during school days and a replica of a harvest drum

The mini complex gives you a Malay feeling, a reflection  into the life of such a great leader who had such a humble beginning. The mini complex is decorated with tropical plants.
