Panglao Island is one of the most visited tourist spot in Bohol because of its famous beaches with white sand and also of its hotels and resort where the tourists will be staying while having vacation in Bohol. But aside from that, there is also another tourist spot where the tourists are currently putting their attention to, the Hinagdanan Cave.

The entrance fee is very affordable with only twenty pesos per person and with that fee, you can ask for a local guides that are on standby around the place. They will be the one assessing you, entertaining you and at the same time, your photographer all throughout the tour inside the cave. They undergo seminar and training on being a guide and especially for the perfect corner and angle of the cave where to take picture that would come out the best.

The cave has one meter small hole that served as entrance with a ladder going down to the cave. Before it was discovered, the said land owner was clearing up the place with an old trunk of trees when he saw the small hole. He was curious with what was inside the hole, so he was throwing a piece of stone inside the hole when he heard a splash meaning there was a source of water underground. So since then, he told everyone about what he discovered. There was no ladder on the cave, it was just an ordinary hole going down the cave but the ladder was purposely made for easy access in the cave. That is why it was called ‘hinagdanan’ means laddered cave.

The interesting thing is that, even how small the entrance is, but once you are inside the cave, you will be amazed by the view and setting that can be offered by the cave. It’s not a dark cave for it is lit by sunlight which filters through holes in the ceiling. There are also electrical bulbs that add more brightness inside the cave. Many large stalactites and stalagmites that can be found inside and there is also an underground lake inside that has 10-12 feet deep with a clear water having a temperature about 25 degrees Celsius. For those who wants to experience swimming the cold water of lake, you are allowed to but with an additional fee.

Bohol has a lot to offer in terms of tourism. The places are great and worth all the visits of the tourist and one of them is the hinagdanan cave. In overall, it was such a nice place. It is worth your visit.
