The best way to improve a blue Monday? Join our complimentary wine-tastings at 6pm every Monday. Warm up with great company in our cosy Garden Lounge while sampling some of the Cape’s most delicious wines.
First off, the wines of the much acclaimed Bouchard Finlayson Estate on 1 August will be on offer. Wine maker Peter Finlayson is regarded as the “pioneer of Pinot Noir” in South Africa, and the estate is considered the leading producer of this wine in the country. Elegant Chardonnays and Sauvignon Blancs are also produced by Peter’s small, passionate team whose focus is making the finest wines from select varietals ideal for the estate’s terroir.
On 8 August guests will sample wines from Longridgewines. Led by international wine consultant Jasper Raats, Longridge eschews short cuts – this philosophy results in less sulphur dioxide, no commercial yeast, enzymes, fining or stabilizing agents. Coaxed instead by a moderate climate and cool breezes from False Bay, the Longridge vineyards are given over to the cultivars that thrive here: Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinotage.
Guests will enjoy a selection of wines from Kaapzicht on 15 August. The estate is third-generation owned and run by the Steytler Family: George Steytler is the viticulturist and his nephew Danie Junior is the winemaker. Kaapzicht’s entry-level wines regularly won Wine Magazine’s Best Value for Money awards, while the premium wines under the Steytler name have won multiple international awards, including Decanter International Trophy for the Best Single Red Varietal Wine in the World.
Experience the acclaimed MCC, Shiraz, Cabernet and Chardonnay from the only French-owned winery in Franschhoek, Topiary, on 22 August. Philippe Colin, the winemaker, is a fourth generation Burgundian wine farmer. This stunning boutique cellar is located in the Wemmershoek Mountain‘s foothills, amongst the fynbos and fauna of Franschhoek Wetland
On 29 August it’s the turn of Esona Wines. This boutique winery nestled on the banks of the Breede River in the Robertson Valley produces limited release, certified single-vineyard Shiraz, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc that are developing a cult following.
A representative from each of the estates will host the hour-long tastings from 18h00. Tastings take place on Mondays only and are free of charge.
