How to travel around in Macau for FREE?

There is no such thing as free lunch. Nothing is free in this world. However, you can travel around Macau for free. Yes, for free and there is no catch or terms and conditions. If you never travel to Macau before, you should visit the country once in your life time. We visited Macau four times so far and we still loving it.

Macau is a very small country but there are plenty of things to see. The main area is the Macau Peninsula and there are a few islands of Taipa, Coloane and the land filling area of Cotai. The Cotai Strip is inspired by the The Strip of Las Vegas.

The main places of attractions, the Ruins of St. Paul, Senado Square, Guai Hill, Macau Tower is located in Macau Peninsula. Same goes to the iconic Grand Lisboa Hotel and Casino.

The popular hotels such as Venetian, Four Seasons, Conrad, Sheraton, Galaxy, City of Dreams, Hard Rock are all located in Cotai Strip.

So how to travel around in Macau for FREE?

Most of the major hotels have FREE Shuttle Busses service. You can find them in the airport, the ferry terminal and also the Zhu Hai border station. There are dozens of them.

Macau International Bus Terminal.

If you want to go to Macau Peninsula, hop on to the Hotel Shuttle Busses in that area and if you want to go to Taipa, you can hop on to hotel shuttle busses in that area. For Taipa Hotels, the familiar names include Venetian Hotel, Sands Cotai Hotels, Galaxy Hotels and City of Dreams Hotels. This will save your bus and taxi fares.

Since Macau is small, most of the hotel shuttle busses have a few designated stops around the city. Thus, it makes it easier for you to hop on the hotel shuttle busses back to your hotel or to another hotel.

Even though hopping into hotel shuttle busses are FREE but you might take a longer time to reach your destination. We don’t find this methodology practical but we know some of my friends love this doing this. If you really want to tour around Macau and have a great overview of the country, we recommend you to try their Hop on Hop Off Busses and you can read our review at Macau Open Top Bus Tour Review.
