Visit Malaysia 2020 Official Logo
In case you didn’t see it on social media network, the Visit Malaysia 2020 Official Logo was officially launched. The logo was launched by Malaysia Tourism and Culture Minister, YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz at ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) in Chiang Mai Thailand yesterday.
Malaysia is expected to welcome a total of 36 million tourist and to register RM 168 billion (US$ 42 billion) in tourist receipts for Visit Malaysia 2020.
Let’s talk about the Visit Malaysia 2020 Official Logo. The layout is inspired by postal stamp with plain white background. You can spot the Petronas Twin Tower as part of the wording of Visit Malaysia. The letters 2020 is somehow misaligned and the colour combination is awkward. The talk of the town is why the orang utan, proboscis monkey and turtle wearing sunglasses? There is also a coconut tree as part of the logo. The caption of the logo is ‘travel, enjoy, respect’. Why is ‘respect’ part of the caption, we don’t really get it.
The logo looks plain and dull with white background. To be honest, we prefer the older Visit Malaysia 2014 logo as it was more modern even though it looks more ‘corporate’. The tag line Malaysia Truly Asia reflects more on Malaysia in general in terms of culture, ethnicity, food and language.
We have many great designers in Malaysia. The old famous Formula One logo was designed by a Malaysian too. In our opinion, we could have a much better Visit Malaysia 2020 Official Logo to represent the country.
