The Teide National Park was recognised by UNESCO in June 2007 along with it's startovolcano which rises in the center of the park it's self, rising to 3,718 meters as "one of the richest and diverse volcanic landscapes of natural values around the world".
Located in the heart of #Tenerife, the park sits on land in the municipalities of Adeje, Fasnia, Garachico, Granadilla de Abona, Guia de Isora Icod de los Vinos, La Guancha, La Orotava, Los Realejos, San Juan de la Rambla , Santiago del Teide and Vilaflor.
El Teide is the highest point in Spain and the third tallest volcano in the world, the park was created in 1954 has 18,990 hectares is the largest and oldest National Park in the Canary Islands.
The park is accessible form the North,South,East and West of the island via a well maintained network of roads, although the roads are closed off during bad weather, especially when it snows.
There are two visitors centre's -
El Portillo de la Villa Centre on the TF21
Cañada Blanca Visitors Centre in the wing of the National Parador Hotel
