Picnic Areas in Central Park

Whether you’re looking to celebrate with your loved one, or simply have a relaxing day out with friends, Central Park has plenty of Picnic areas to suit your needs. These picnic spots are all tucked away in the park’s beautiful landscapes, and provide a lovely view of some of the city’s most iconic sites.

The Great Lawn, a 55-acre open space, has been a popular picnic spot for generations. In addition to offering picnic tables and benches, the lawn has been the site of many famous concerts and cultural events.

For those looking for a more romantic setting, Belvedere Castle is a popular picnic area. Belvedere Castle was built in 1865 in both Romanesque and Gothic styles. The Castle sits along the edge of the Meer and offers several lawns on the meadow.

Another popular Central Park picnic spot is The Ramble. This wooded area has a variety of plants and wildflowers and is home to a small waterfall. It is also home to a number of bird species. The best views of the Ramble are from the shoreline next to the Beresford Building.

The Great Hill meadow is a quieter picnic area than other meadows in the park. It offers public restrooms, as well as picnic tables and benches.

The Picnic Grove at Empire Fulton Ferry is another great picnic spot. The park offers spectacular views of New York Harbor and Lower Manhattan. It is also home to a number statues and sculptures.
