Realtorspk.com is here with the detail of hajj rituals and a step-by-step guide on how to perform Hajj. But first, have a look at who is eligible to perform Hajj:

Who is Eligible to Perform Hajj?

Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam; all Muslims must perform it at least once in their life after being financially able to bear the expenses. However, not everyone can perform it as there are a few conditions:

  • Only Adults are obligated to perform the auspicious duty. Children can perform it, but it is not required for them.
  • Weak, Sick, elderly, or physically incapable Muslims are exempt from performing the religious journey.
  • Only Muslims who are financially able have to perform Hajj. If someone is in debt or living hand to mouth, they are exempt from the list.

A Step-By-Step Guide on How to Perform Hajj:

The guide here is beneficial for those planning to perform Hajj this year. Those interested in knowing about Hajj rituals will also find this blog beneficial.Let’s get started:

1. Niyah – Preparation and Intention:

Before arriving in Makkah, it is essential to make your Niyyah (Intention) in your heart.

2. Enter Ihram (The Sacred State):

Entering the Ihram is the first ritual to perform Hajj. It is a sacred state for pilgrims when they are crossing the Makkah boundaries to perform the auspicious duty. The pilgrims have to enter Ihram on the eighth day of Zull-Hijjah.

  • Entering into the state of Ihram means wearing two plain garments (unstitched clothes for men) and loose-fitting clothes for women who observe the Hijab rules. However, face coverings are not permitted in Hajj. Also read our blog on online qurbani websites in pakistan.
  • In footwear, full-covering shoes are also prohibited and must be in the form of sandals for men and women.
  • Entering Ihram means you must follow specific rules, such as not getting into a fight, not getting angry, or engaging in sexual activity.
  • By wearing Ihram, you declare that you intend to go and perform Hajj, and Hujjaj will be distinguished in the holy cities with their sacred state of Ihram.

Once the pilgrims are in Ihram, they will begin reciting Talbiyah (تلبیہ). The words are:

Translation in English:

“Here I am, O Allah, here I am, here I am. You have no partner, here I am. Verily all praise and blessings are Yours, and all sovereignty. You have no partner.”

3. Enter to Mina:

The Hajj journey has officially begun, and it is time to proceed to Mina with your Hajj group. Mina is located around 8 Km from the center of Makkah.

Mina is also called the city of Tents, as you will see the sprawling tents over the land of Mina for the stay of pilgrims. It is time to settle in the allocated tent. Once settled, the pilgrims will offer obligatory prayers in units. Hence the pilgrims will offer their obligatory prayers here. The night will be spent in Mina.

4. Journey to Arafah:

On 9th Zill-Hijjah, after sunrise, the pilgrims will head toward Arafah, reciting Talbeeh and Istaghfar (استغفار) and making different supplications. The day of Arafah is marked as a day of forgiveness for our sins by Allah (SWT).

Once they reach the Arafah, pilgrims will pray shortened obligatory Salah. So there will be Zuhrain (a combination of Zuhr and Asar). On the holy day, a sermon will be delivered at Mount Arafah from Masjid al-Nimra.

5. Muzdalifah:

After the sermon, pilgrims will travel to Muzdalifah. The journey will start after sunset in the plain area between Mina and Arafah. Here the Hujjaj will offer communal prayers Maghribain (Maghrib and Isha). The night will be spent here. The pilgrims also have to collect pebbles from here to Rami (رمی), the next step of Hajj.

6. Rami:

On the day of the 10th, Zill Hijjah, pilgrims return to Mina and perform Rami. It is a ritual in which pilgrims through 7 pebbles to the biggest columns known as Jamarat. The next step is to perform Hadi (sacrifice the animal) and start the festival of Eid. The rami continue for three days.

7. Hadi and Eid:

After the Hadi, the pilgrims mark the great sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), who was willing to sacrifice his beloved son Hazrat Ismail (AS).

After the Hadi, it is time to shave or trim hair. Males shave their heads completely, while women trim their hair with the length of a fingertip.

The Pilgrims can leave the state of Ihram and wear different clothes as the Hajj is complete. The pilgrims return to Mina and complete the Rami on the 11 and 12th of Zull-Hijjah.

Let’s wrap up:

So that’s all for now! We hope that the blog will guide the pilgrims who are going for Hajj for the first time.
