Indian Railways is launching another semi-high speed Vande Bharat Train on September 30 2022. PM Modi will flag off the train from Gandhinagar station during his two-day state visit. This would be the third Vande Bharat train that will cover the Mumbai-Gandhinagar route. Two other trains run on New Delhi to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Varanasi routes. 

The Railway Minister tweeted that the new train will serve millet-rich regional food. “The customised menu is in line with celebrating 2023 as the International Year of Millets worldwide. IRCTC will also include rich cuisines to improve travellers’ taste buds during the journey on inaugural day and regular days from October 1, 2022”.

During the test runs, the picked-up speed of the third Vande Bharat train was noted to be faster than Japan’s Bullet train. 

Vande Bharat train can run up to a maximum speed of 160 kmph, similar to the Shatabdi Train, but with better facilities. The train aims to improve travellers’ experience. ‘SSS’ ━ Safety, Speed and Services (especially cleanliness) are the major factors of this train. 

The third Vande Bharat train will address passengers’ expectations and cater to the premium business and corporate class travelling between Mumbai and Gujarat. Indian Railway claims that the train will serve health-conscious and low-calorie food options, including dishes prepared from ragi, cereals, oats, muesli, bhagar, etc. 

Moreover, Railway will also cater to the preferences of the fasting, Jain, etc.. These dishes will be prepared from Sabu Dana or Bhagar or will include fruits, which are light for the stomach and rich in nutrients. The train will also include healthy beverages and peanut chikki (substitute for chocolates).
