How will hotels operate post Covid?
There’s no easy answer, but let’s take a look at predicted Trends as we move toward the new year.
The story will be the same: guest rooms rented, occupied, cleaned, re-rented. The food and beverage served will be the same. It’s the manner that changes.
Look for contactless check in and check out, especially in select service properties.
There will be continued and increased focus on cleanliness in the guest rooms, and you might notice hotels doing away with throw pillows and other non-launderable design elements.
We imagine a trend toward hard flooring instead of carpet, high-tech television with greater dependence on smart-device functionality.
Meeting-planning will pay close attention to CDC-recommended social distancing. Buffets, as we knew them, might well be extinct. Menus, as well, giving way to scanning alternatives.
Small, plates, stand-up catering, grazing stations…F&B will be a different animal moving forward, but, like all challenges, this allows for innovation and endless opportunity for creativity.
Grab and Go’s are an absolute must. Guests are looking for individually wrapped, quality food to take back to the room.
The changes will continue, that’s the only guarantee. Isn’t it always?
