Govindghat to Badrinath: Travel Tips

From Govindghat to Badrinath is one of the most incredible drives in the world. The mountains are so beautiful that I can’t even find the words to describe them. You can use a private vehicle or you can go by bus. The distance is only 25 km to cover.  Govind Ghat to Badrinath’s journey takes 1 hour and covers a distance of 25 km. The route includes stops at Pandukeshwar, Hanuman Chatti, and Badrinath.

Govindghat

Govindghat is a beautiful place located at the confluence of the Alaknanda and Lakshman Ganga rivers? It is roughly 22 km from Joshimath on NH58 and is at an altitude of 6000 feet. The Gurudwara located on the right bank of the river Alaknanda is the most important landmark in the area. It also provides accommodation to pilgrims.

Stopping Point

Govindghat is a popular stopping point for many Char Dham pilgrims. The district is also of great religious and cultural importance. It is believed that Lord Hanuman found the Sanjeevani herb here, which was used to revive Laxman.

Trekking Junction

It is the starting point for many treks, including to Hemkund Sahib and the Valley of Flowers. The valley is well-known for its picturesque beds of flowers which can be seen from the Joshimath – Badrinath Road. Every day, hundreds of people visit the Bhundyar Ganga, most of them Sikh pilgrims on their way to Hemkund Sahib or tourists interested in seeing the Valley of Flowers.

Festivals

Many festivals are celebrated in Govindghat, such as Ramnavami and Dasserra. Ramnavami celebrates the birthday of Lord Rama and falls in the Hindi month of Chaitra. Dasserra, another festival, celebrates the victory of Lord Rama over the demon Ravana and usually falls in the month of October or November.
