Bajrang Setu Rishikesh: A Glass-Floored Bridge Next To Laxman Jhula
The state government has started constructing the glass-floored Bajrang Setu (Bridge) next to the iconic bridge Lakshman Jhula. Bajrang Setu Rishikesh will be another iconic structure of Uttarakhand like Ram Jhula and Janki Setu. This new glass-floored bridge will be one of the major tourist destinations of Rishikesh like the Lakshman Jhula bridge, and the latest technology is used for the construction of this bridge.
With a glass-floor suspension bridge crossing the Ganges coming up next to Lakshman Jhula, Rishikesh will set to become even more picturesque. So just get ready cameras, walk out there, and enjoy the views with no fear safely!
Bajrang Setu
The new footbridge is being made of an eclectic mix of glass, reinforced plastics, and asphalt. The footpath will encompass two 3.2m-wide walkways along the sides while the center is a 3.2m-wide road constructed from toughened transparent glass set into concrete slabs
The Bajrang Setu’s length is 132.2 meters while its width is eight meters, these figures were determined after assessing all relevant factors such as stability, important events happening in the town, nearby facilities, etc. The toughened safety glass to be used as a floor on both sides will be 3.5 inches thick.
Laxman Jhula
As you know, Lakshman Jhula is a bridge that stretches across the Ganges River in Rishikesh, India. While the bridge was mostly used by locals to make their way between Tapovan and Lakshman Jhula regions of Tehri and Pauri Garhwal districts in Uttarakhand, it was closed down in July 2019 after a technical team observed that the bridge was releasing sounds at certain intervals.
