Reaching Rishikesh, Uttarakhand

3 Days Rishikesh Trip,  is a breathtaking town in the foothills of the mighty Himalayas. Thanks to its massive popularity, this adventure seeker’s heaven has a well-connected airport, train stations, and roads.

Road: Rishikesh is close to Haridwar, Dehradun, and Chandigarh, which are 25km, 45km & 223 km respectively. It’s easier to reach the town in one’s own car (walking distance from Har-ki-Pauri). However, if it isn’t available, you can easily get here by joining UTC buses or taxis from the Rishikesh bus station.

Train: Yog Nagari Rishikesh is closest to Rishikesh. The second closest is the Haridwar Railway station. Cabs and buses run frequently to Rishikesh from these railway stations.

Air: If one’s flying in the air, they’ll have to land at Dehradun’s airport ( Jolly Grant Airport) and find a taxi that’ll take to Rishikesh.

Day 1 at Rishikesh

Lakshman Jhula: Start off your Rishikesh trip with the city’s poster child, the Lakshman Jhula. Ramayana tells us that Lord Rama and his brother Lakshman crossed the Ganga here using twin ropes of jute! The dainty 450 ft long suspension bridge was built in 1929 to honor this mythical feat while serving as a way to connect Pauri with Tehri on either end.

Ram Jhula: Travel about two kilometers ahead, and you’ll reach a path that will lead you to a copy of Ram Jhula. Only much larger than the original, this bridge was built by Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department with help from Sivananda Ashram.

Beatles Ashram – How many of you were aware that an Indian yogi made The Beatles want to study not only yoga but also meditation in his ashram? If you hadn’t heard this story before, I’ve got a bone to pick with you! The legendary band stayed in Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s Rishikesh ashram for three months away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi to find inner peace.

Triveni Ghat: If you want to experience a true cultural event, then Ganga Arti is the perfect one for you! This event brings thousands of tourists into this very tranquil area that rests on the banks of the Triveni. To guarantee your best spot for this momentous occasion, it’s suggested that you arrive at the ghat with time on your hands and in plenty of company. It’s also suggested that you bring some hygienic clothing along with you!

Day 2 at Rishikesh

Yoga By Ganga River: The morning air will be quite invigorating once you wake up early. Make sure to get active with your exercise routine before the rising heat of the sun becomes unbearable. The Ganga River: It’s not just yoga; it’s an absolute must to enjoy the mesmerizing view of this holy river in action. Bungee Jumping: Rishikesh: This northern city is popularly known to be the “adventure capital of India”. It’s here where you can find the highest bungee jumping in the country. The cost for this activity is around INR 3550.

Neelkanth Temple If you’re looking for vibrance, the colorfully-decorated entry to Neelkanth’s Temple might appeal to your personal aesthetic. Legend has it that this is the spot where Shiva, overhearing poison-emitting demons making their plans on a mission in the sea nearby, consumed their poisoned concoction all while standing upon his snake mount. As a consequence of absorbing the power infused within the venom, his throat became affected with blue coloration – and thus he was given the name Neelkanth as well as the declared guardian of Rishikesh as well.

Day 3 at Rishikesh

River Rafting: Who visits Rishikesh and doesn’t go for river rafting? That’s like having pizza without cheese. River rafting in this tehsil starts from INR 600 (9 km), and goes up till INR 2500 (35 km), depending upon the distance and route you choose. The best months to go for river rafting are from February to June. It closes down in the monsoon season and resumes sometime in the middle of September.

Neergarh Waterfalls: Rishikesh is located amidst the lush green woods and has a waterfall called Neer Garh. This is 6 km from the main city so it’s far away from all of the chaos nearby. You should wear your souvenir T-Shirt when you walk out in front of this natural wonder because you will not want to take a chance of ruining your clothes in the water.

Where to eat in Rishikesh?

How does one know where to eat in Rishikesh? As the number of restaurants in this city is increasing, it has become extremely difficult for tourists to find eateries that don’t disappoint. Thus, we take a look at the most popular restaurants and point out why they have gained such popularity.

Little Buddha Cafe Laxman Jhula Rishikesh

Little Buddha Cafe Lakshman Jhula– At the Little Buddha Cafe, you can enjoy the sound of whooshing waters while casual dining in rustic interiors. The eatery offers an extra-large vegetarian menu, and almost everything served is finger-licking good. It’s a must-visit!

60’s Beatles Cafe, Rishikesh: beyond amazing dishes and beverages (including furniture resembling dollhouses), this is how we would describe this very famous eatery of Rishikesh. Some of the highly recommended menu offerings are kinds of pasta, sandwiches, and pizzas.

OM Freedom Cafe:   Located in the heart of Rishikesh, this café rests on the upper floor of an apartment complex. The city offers breathtaking views from most vantage points, but if there is one place mostly preferred by tourists who are on a budget – away from fancy establishments where they have to be dressed up for lunch – it’s this café. Expect nothing very fancy about the decor here but you can surely expect great food served at affordable rates. From crepes and pasta to pizzas and falafels, there’s something for everyone here!

Ganga View Café: The Ganga View café is located in the Tapovan area and offers a beautiful view of the Ganges river. The prices are very low (very snacky as they say here in Rishikesh). Here, you can eat whatever you want, since everything is cheap & tasty!

Ira’s Kitchen and Tea Room: Some say that in this corner of the world there exist places that give meaning to one’s life. Further, others claim that these places are more than just scenic locations but rather a cultural expression of the people living in these homesteads. There is no mention of whether it is the view that never gets spoiled by any other building or if it is about the taste of food served at Ira’s kitchen and tea room but what we find truly impressive is how it manages to evoke your creative spirit every time you have some of their delectable menus in hand!

A Tavola Con Te: This restaurant will take your taste buds on a tour of Italy like never before. The pizzas served here are straight out of a wood fire oven where the heat is allowed to spread evenly across the whole surface, making it soft and flavorful as well as crispy – every pizza lover’s dream. A Tavola Con Te also has some great desserts that’ll be perfect for satisfying any sweet tooth.
