Midwest Trips Have Been Good for our Marriage, Sex Lives, and Savings

When was your last vacation? Could you use a vacation right now? Have your past vacations left you financially spent? Have you tabled future vacations because of the risk of flying and the pandemic? Enough.

Road tripping in the Midwest solves all of the above. Here’s the deal: Midwest Road Trips make us happy and we think they will you, too. We are definitely less cranky when we have frequent trips to look forward to. Plus, being adventurous on road and off translates into better marital bonding, if you can read between the roadmap lines.

We’re here to sell you on how to milk the Midwest for all it’s worth without spending your entire savings like we felt we were doing 2016-2018.

Tom and I realized we couldn’t keep spending $4,000 a pop out to go to Ireland, Belize and such as we did early in our marriage. We also realized we had just as much fun going to Des Moines, Bentonville, and Omaha, Stockton, Rogers, Liberty, and other fantastic places within driving distance of our home in Kansas City, MO.

Tom and Brenda Geiger take lots of midwest road trips throughout the year to keep things fresh. Here they are l enjoying coffee at Hammon’s Emporium in Stockton, Missouri, before a bike ride across Stockton Lake’s damn.

Why spend a wad of cash on epic vacations every other year, when you could stretch the same money into many, mini Midwest Road trips and vacations every year? That ahah gave this site lift off. Doing the math it became clear that we could take one epic international vacation every two-three years or enjoy six to eight long weekends or midwest road trips every year given the average domestic vacation costs at least half that of traveling abroad.

Want to know the best part? We’re hell-bent on satisfying your hunger for whiskey and wonder in the Midwest. Because after all, isn’t that what we need right now?  A drive through a countryside, national park, or balloonfest? Someplace close to go to recharge your weary mind and body from the abuse 2020 has reeked on it.

How it Works?

Begin on the home page of our site, Eat Drink Dive. Scroll down to Midwest state and city you’re most interested in and then press “get itinerary.” This generates a linkable listing of places to have coffee, lunch, dinner, and most importantly, drinks. It also gives you links to lodging, museum, lakes, and quirky attractions you may want to experience during your weekend or Midwest road trip.

Define Midwest States

Yes, the Midwest is big, but gas is cheap right now. We’re building a venue directory inclusive of the 12 states shown below. We’ll have the West North Central online in 2021 and the East North Central by 2022 as this venture is small and self financed right now. (Midwesterners are entrepreneurs at heart). If your a city who wants in the directory now, email me.

What’s In It For You?

This isn’t your party cove, if you’re only into rainforests and scuba diving. However, if you want to taste and experience what the 12 states above have waiting for you in their speakeasies, restaurants, museums, lakes and more, this is your place. Bookmark Eat Drink Dive. And follow us on Instagram and Facebook.

We give great freebies to new subscribers and release nifty digital guides each quarter. This October we’re releasing our 2021 Midwest Event Calendar, which is 20 pages of fun that will let you map out your 2021 road trips, now. Because if you get it on your calendar, you’ll make the road trip next year, no excuses.

Early November, we’re releasing the Whiskey & Wonder Gift Guide. It will make holiday, birthday, and valentine’s shopping much easier for you.

Lastly, we publish four posts a month showcasing Midwest road trips we’re taking or planning. We also do round-up articles of best bars, best coffee, and best stops to take on your Midwest adventures.
