The Mt. Hood National Forest is a gorgeous place, and you’ll find 65 different runs, including 34 fully lit ski runs so you can even ski at night. As soon as the snow starts to fall here the locals and tourists alike all flock to Mt. Hood, and once you see it in all its majesty, you’ll understand why.
Learn How to Kitesurf
The best thing about Hood River is that the outdoors is inviting all year round! As snow sports season ends, water sports season begins, and one of the best sports around is kitesurfing. There are multiple different places where you can get kitesurfing lessons if you’re a beginner, including Cascade Kiteboarding, Kite the Gorge, and New Wind Kiteboarding. These people are experts, and they’re here to teach you how to ride the waves in one of the most creative and adrenaline-inducing sports around. You’ve never felt the wind in your hair quite like this before!
Tour a Local Brewery
Brewery tours are a great way to spend your time in a new city and are one of our favorite activities in Hood River. Not only does it give you something fresh and exciting to do, but it will get you acquainted with the local craft beer scene, of which Hood River is widely known for. Pay a visit to our favorite breweries, such as Full Sail Brewing Company and Double Mountain Brewery. Tours at Full Sail are free, only take about 30 minutes, and can be done on any day of the week. At Double Mountain Brewery you can take a free behind-the-beers tour on Saturdays at 12:00 every week.
