Spotted Lake

Located in British Columbia, Spotted Lake is undoubtedly the most magical place in Canada. During summers, water starts to evaporate leaving behind hundreds of giant briny pools. Each pool is of different color leaving a polka-dotted lake of blue, green, and yellow spots. This lake has been considered as sacred to the native Okanagan people for centuries.

Do you know why these pools are colorful? They are the result of a higher concentration of minerals such as sodium sulfates, calcium, and magnesium sulfate.

The Giant’s Causeway

The result of a huge volcanic eruption that took place around sixty million years ago – The Giant’s Causewayexhibits approximately 40,000 interlocked basalt columns. The volcanic eruption spilled out the molten basalt, which then solidified and cooled, generating the cracks that can be seen today. The majority of the columns are hexagonal, although there are also some with seven, eight, five, or four sides. The tallest columns are about 39 ft. high.

Thor’s Well

Located at about 5 km south of Yachats, there is a bowl-shaped hole, which is popularly known as Thor’s Well. What makes it weird is that during high tides and winter storms, the waves rush into the gaping sinkhole and then shoots up like a violent spray. Soon the water sinks back and the same process begins again.

Pamukkale

Located in southwest Turkey, this destination is a remarkable UNESCO World Heritage site. It also takes in the ancient ruins of Hierapolis, which was once a great city. You can see the water cascading from natural springs and white travertine terraces, forming jaw-dropping thermal pools that are perfect for relaxing while dipping.

Lake Hillier

Discovered in 1802, this remarkable lake is located on the largest islands of Recherche Archipelago in Western Australia. You will be mesmerized by its pink color, which is said to be formed due to high salinity accompanied by the presence of salt-loving species of algae called Dunaliella salina and pink bacteria named as halobacteria.

The Nazca lines

Located in southern Peru, Nazca Lines are a group of pre-Columbian geoglyphs etched into barren Pampa de San Jose. There are approximately 300 different figures, including animals, plants, and geometric shapes. These are stretched to an area of about 1,000 sq. kilometers. These figures are most visible from the air or hilltops and towers. Do you know that these figures are composed of over 10,000 lines? Some of them measure 30 meters wide and stretch more than 9 kilometers.

The Bermuda Triangle

Also known as the Devil’s Triangle, The Bermuda Triangle is long shrouded in mystery. This notorious 5,00,000 square miles triangle is roughly the area between Florida, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico. The mystery about ships, planes, and people disappearing without any trace still holds to date. Visiting this mystical part of the Atlantic Ocean can prove particularly dangerous.

Socotra Island

This otherworldly island looks like the set of a sci-fi film. It is separated from mainland Africa approximately 6 million years ago. What makes this place strange and weird is that the plants and trees here are not found anywhere else in the world. It exhibits incredible and unique biodiversity. The Catacombs of Paris
