Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam. Muslims who are eligible to perform Hajj must do it at least once in their life. Eligible means that you must bear the cost of Hajj physically and financially.

On the other side, Muslims can perform Umrah at any time, except for the Hajj at that time. Hajj is obligatory for a Muslim. Muslims all over the world want to perform these rituals of Hajj and Umrah once in their lives.

First of all, we should be aware of the term Mahram. In fact, according to Islam, who is the mahram for the woman?
In Islam, a woman cannot marry a man who is on this list with whom she has a bloody or foster relationship.

This includes her cousins, son, in-laws, grandchildren, stepfathers, brother, husband, nephews and any male with whom she has shared a mother’s milk is Mahram.

Now the important thing is, can any women go for Hajj or Umrah without a Mahram?

As the Hadith describes the situation clearly.
Shaykh Muhammad Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: This activity – a Hajj without Muharram – is haram in light of the hadeeth of Ibn’ Abbas (RA) who said:
I have heard that when Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) said, “When he (Peace Be Upon Him) was giving a lesson,” no woman will go with the mahram. “A man stood up and said,” O Messenger of Allah (Peace Be Upon Him), my spouse has left for Hajj, and I have followed such a military action. ” He said: “Do Hajj with your better half.” Bukhari narrates 3006. Muslim, 1341.

Many people have a different point of views for women going to Hajj and Umrah with or without a Mahram. But from the above hadith, it is quite clear that it is not acceptable for a woman to do Umrah or Hajj without a Mahram.

It doesn’t matter if there are more women with her, or if she is safe or not, That she goes with the women of her own family and she’s amazingly safe, for her it’s not better to go without a Mahram.

Because when the Holy Prophet (PBUH) asked this man to go on Hajj with his wife, he never once asked the Holy Prophet (PBUH) if there were other women with him or No, or whether it is sheltered or not. The way he didn’t get any information about it shows that it does not affect. This incident shows us the clarity of the situation.

These days, some people have become entangled in this problem and women have been allowed to walk alone without a Mahram. There is no doubt that they contradict the irrelevant importance of the writings of Islam.

The fact of the matter is that women should fear Allah and not go for Hajj and not leave without a Mahram for any other reason which has been mentioned above. What’s more, Allah is the One whose help we look for.

And another important hadeeth that we can learn about is that a woman can travel without a Mahram for any religious or another purpose?

Furthermore, on the mastery of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be satisfied with him) reported the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) stated: “It is not passable for a lady who has faith in Allah and the Last Day to travel a separation of one day and one night without a mahram with her.” Abu Sa’id portrayed that the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) stated: “A lady is not to travel a separation of two days without her husband or Mahram with her.”

If a woman wants to perform Umrah and Hajj with her Muharram according to Islamic law, she can seek the help of a reputable travel agency which will arrange a cheap Umrah package for her and her Mahram.
